At Sunnybrook, we foster a lifelong love of swimming and want every member who wishes to become a confident swimmer to have access to quality instruction. While our space and time availability for lessons are limited, we are hoping to provide opportunities that will help as many interested swimmers and divers as possible.

Sunnybrook is offering both Group Swim Lessons and

Group Swim Lessons

We’re thrilled to announce that our head manager will continue to oversee this year’s swim lesson program! Jessie Davy, the head manager,  brings over 20 years of experience teaching swimmers of all ages. She is certified as a Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) and is also a certified First Aid/CPR Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor. With her expertise and passion, Jessie is looking forward to introducing fresh ideas to help your children learn to swim confidently and stay safe in the water. Jessie will be largely supported by the assistant managing team as well. All instructors will receive pre-season training to sharpen their instructor skills. Beginner Level A & B:

The Beginner Levels groups are ideal for younger swimmers who are just starting out. This class helps children become comfortable in the water without a parent and introduces basic swimming skills. Students will learn how to safely enter and exit the pool, submerge their face in the water, and move through the water using flotation aids or instructor support. By the end of the session, children will work toward independently swimming short distances. Please Click Here to see skills for Level A and Click Here for Level B that will be worked on throughout the session.

Intermediate Level A & B:

These 2 levels introduce young swimmers to basic swimming techniques in a fun and supportive environment. Swimmers will start to explore front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke while becoming more comfortable and confident in the water. The class encourages continued development of coordination and independence. Please Click Here to see the skills for Level A and Click Here for Level B that will be worked on throughout the session.

Micro Makos Swim Lessons

This is a wonderful opportunity for our aspiring Mini Mako swimmers! We are offering 5 lessons for each participant that was recommended for more practice and instruction prior to acceptance into the Mini Mako program. This program will feature small group instruction with the sole focus on meeting the Mini Mako requirements. You may sign up for 1 week of the group lessons offered during our group swim lessons. Please select Micro Makos  as your “lesson level” on the Google form and you will be granted the time slot of 11:30-12 noon. Please be advised that small groups will be maxed out at a 1 teacher to 5 swimmers to ensure safety and the most time on task for each swimmer.

Private Swim & Dive Instruction

To ensure Sunnybrook remains enjoyable and accessible for all members, we’ve established a structured process for requesting private swim instruction.

What You Need to Know:

  • Registration Process: To request lessons, you must complete a brief registration form. This allows instructors to review requests and match swimmers with the right instructor based on availability and goals.
  • Lesson Availability: Due to space constraints, private lessons are limited and scheduled around general pool usage and instructor availability
  • Instructor Matching: Once registration form is completed, you will receive an email from the management to confirm receipt of your form. An instructor will reach out to you to set-up the lesson goals, timing, and pricing. All payments will be paid directly to the instructor.

Please Note:

Private swim and dive instructors at Sunnybrook Swim Club are not employed by the club in this capacity. They operate independently, and all instruction is arranged directly between the instructor and the member. This includes scheduling and payment. Sunnybrook Swim Club is not responsible for any private instructional agreements.

We’re excited to help your swimmer grow in skill and confidence! Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all Sunnybrook families.

If you have any questions about our swim lesson programs please feel free to email our Head Manager at [email protected]
